Four months and counting

Avery, Quinn and Beau at 4 months.

To celebrate their four-month milestone, Meegan dressed the Trips in their red pinstripes and told them to smile for the camera. Amazingly, they all did, even Beau who tends to favor the grumpy look in the lower panel. They all clocked in at 12-13 pounds when they visited the doctor today, which means they are just where they should be.

Gigi Says: How the CareCalendar helps the Beans

Grandma Gigi does double duty
Gigi says:

When you have triplets, people want to help. That's logical, but figuring out how to let them actually pitch in is not so easy. People who want to hold and feed the babies don't want to just drop in. And while mom welcomes food, she doesn't need two dinners on the same evening.

My sister-in-law, Beth, tipped me to an online planning tool that she has used to help her teacher colleagues. CareCalendar brings order to potential chaos – when four friends show up at the same time to rock the Beans.

The CareCalendar is available free online to anyone who wants to start one. While it is free they do accept donations. The CareCalendar can be organized to provide meals and other help for families during a life changing event, such as the birth of a baby or babies.

The calendar manager works with the parents to list the chores that are needed and the best times for assistance. Then family and friends can sign up to fill those needs.

The parents get a daily email showing who signed up to do what and when. Customizing the CareCalendar for our family was a simple process and the result has been great on-going support. Our triplets now have friends and neighbors who get to share baby time or drop off a pot of soup.

The Beans almost ready to roll

The Wee Beans have been cleared to come home this week, though one or two might need another day or two in the NICU. They are spending tonight with mom and dad in the hospital's test bedroom where new families get a to do an overnight dry run with nurses close by.

They also had to pass the car seat test in which they were required to remain buckled in and comfortable for 90 minutes. Look closely and you'll see that Avery is enjoying the scenery and acing her test while Beau and Quinn decided they could sleep through the exam and still get a passing grade. Wonder if that's an indication of their future.

With the triples heading home we will be closing down the Go Fund Me campaign where friends of Kyle and Meegan are contributing toward the cost of a three-seat stroller and three car seats. As of today, we have raised $1,662 - almost the full $1,800 that we set as our goal. If you or someone you know would like to chip in a few dollars, click this link before the end of this week.
